Project:
EPA Region 7 Science and Technology Center
Kansas City, Kansas
Project Type:
New Construction
Description:
The Science and Research Design Group served as the architect of record in a multidisciplinary team for a new regional laboratory for the Environmental Protection Agency. In this facility, scientists analyze soil, air, water, fish, and other wildlife from a multi-state region to evaluate their physical properties and potential contamination levels. One of the greatest project challenges was designing a state-of-the-art laboratory facility that was responsive to the EPA\\\'s environmentally conscious mission statement. Through the use of innovative building systems and sensible green design, we were able to achieve a \\\"Gold Rating\\\" on the LEED scoring system, as administered by the United States Green Building Council.
